LAHORE (Suno News): Hyderabad district administration has issued a complete ban on kite flying following a rise in accidents. The official notification applies across public and private areas.

Commissioner Hyderabad, Fayyaz Hussain Abbasi, has enforced Section 144 and prohibited kite flying from January 1 to March 31. The ban includes flying kites, buying, selling, making, or storing kite materials. No kite-related activity or gatherings will be allowed during this period.

The notification also states that any violation will be handled under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code by the relevant police station inspector. The ban comes after repeated accidents caused by kite flying in the city.

Meanwhile, the Punjab government has also issued directives to prevent kite flying before Basant due to safety concerns. Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners, RPOs, CPOs, and DPOs have been instructed to strictly enforce the ban.

According to the Punjab Home Department, the Kite Flying Regulations Bill 2025 prohibits kite making, sale, and flying throughout the province. The government highlighted illegal kite flying incidents as a serious threat to human life and public safety.

Authorities warned that sharp, metallic, or glass-coated kite strings have caused injuries to pedestrians and motorcyclists in the past, prompting stricter action.

The Punjab government clarified that during Basant, only safe celebrations are allowed on February 6, 7, and 8 in Lahore. Any kite flying outside the approved dates or using dangerous strings will be treated as illegal.
