(WebDesk): Sindh has launched online portal for motorcycle fuel subsidy, offering Rs2,000 monthly to eligible bike owners so as to ease fuel cost pressure.

Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah introduced a digital system for verification and registration. Citizens can now confirm motorcycle ownership and apply online بسهولة.

He said applicants must enter their CNIC and bank account details on the official portal. After submission, they will receive automatic confirmation of their application.

The announcement was made during a press conference at the CM House in Karachi. Senior officials including Sharjeel Inam Memon, Mukesh Kumar Chawla, and Murtaza Wahab were also present.

The chief minister made it clear that only motorcycles registered in the owner’s name will qualify. This step is aimed at ensuring transparency in the subsidy process.

Under this scheme, each eligible motorcycle owner will receive Rs2,000 per month. This amount is equal to around 20 liters of fuel support.

He added that payments will be transferred quickly through the banking system. Sindh Bank account holders will receive funds within 24 hours, while others may get it within three days.

A dedicated helpline has also been launched to guide applicants. People can use it for help with registration and verification steps.

The initiative is also designed to promote financial inclusion. Citizens are being encouraged to open bank accounts for direct government transfers.

To make the process easier, the Sindh Excise Department has removed the Rs500 motorcycle transfer fee. Excise offices will remain open from 8:00 am to midnight, even on weekends, for 15 days.

Officials shared that around 1,500 motorcycles have already been transferred to rightful owners. This shows early progress in the scheme.

The government has allocated Rs13,400,000,000 for the motorcycle subsidy program. Another transport subsidy plan with the federal government is estimated at Rs14,300,000,000 per month.

Currently, about 11,000 private buses and 470 government buses are being subsidized. This is being done to keep transport fares stable for the public.

The chief minister warned that any increase in fares will face strict action. He said fares will remain at Feb 28, 2026 levels to benefit commuters.

He also announced a Rs3,000,000,000 subsidy program for small farmers starting this week. The government is also working on plans to reduce prices of flour and other essential food items.

This step can give direct relief to daily bike users. It may reduce financial stress for many families. However, proper verification will be important. Without strict checks, the system could face misuse.
