FIA sets up immigration facilities – Will this curb human smuggling?
(Web Desk): The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) sets up immigration facilities to curb human smuggling, aiming to guide passengers and block illegal travel networks.

The Federal Investigation Agency has established a Pre-Departure Immigration Facilitation and Guidance Desk along with a Risk Analysis Unit in Faisalabad Zone to prevent human smuggling and assist people traveling abroad.

Officials said the new desk will provide complete guidance to passengers before departure. Travelers can visit the zonal office or contact the helpline to get information about required documents, legal formalities and other mandatory travel requirements.

They explained that many passengers face problems at airports or in foreign countries due to lack of proper documentation and awareness of legal obligations. This step aims to reduce such issues and protect citizens from fraud.

Authorities believe that many people fall into the trap of illegal agents and smuggling networks because they do not fully understand lawful travel procedures. The new desk will educate travelers and ensure they follow legal channels.

A Risk Analysis Unit has also been set up to study passenger data and identify suspicious travel patterns. The unit will examine the methods used by human smugglers and share timely information with relevant departments for quick action.

Officials said these measures are part of a wider plan to promote safe and legal overseas travel while strengthening action against human smuggling and related crimes.

This step shows the government is focusing more on prevention than reaction. If properly implemented, it may reduce fraud cases. However, strong monitoring and public awareness will decide its success.
