(Web Desk): Pakistan will observe a nationwide public holiday on Kashmir Day as February 5 is declared an official day off across the country.

Kashmir Day is marked every year in Pakistan to show solidarity with the Kashmiri people. On this day, special events, seminars, rallies, and prayer gatherings are held to support the right to self-determination of Kashmiris.

The public holiday will apply to all federal and provincial government offices, educational institutions, and most private sector offices. The decision has been issued through a formal notification by the Cabinet Division.

Officials said the holiday holds the same national importance as other major days such as Pakistan Day on March 23 and Independence Day on August 14.

The government added that the purpose of the holiday is not only to express unity with the Kashmiri people but also to raise public awareness about the historical, political, and humanitarian aspects of the Kashmir issue.

As in previous years, 2026 is expected to see both public and private events on Kashmir Day. These activities will highlight human rights concerns and aim to draw global attention to the Kashmir dispute.

The holiday shows continued national support for Kashmir. Public events help keep the issue alive globally. Government aims to educate people beyond symbolism. International attention remains a key objective.
