Religious scholar Engineer Muhammad Ali Mirza has made an important revelation about former prime minister Imran Khan’s time in Adiala Jail, sharing rare details from inside the prison.
Speaking on a podcast with journalist Irshad Bhatti, Engineer Ali Mirza said that during his detention, only one wall separated his prison cell from Imran Khan’s area. He explained that the section where he was held had three cells meant for three inmates.
According to Engineer Mirza, Imran Khan was kept on the other side of the wall, where six cells were allocated for him, along with a prison assistant (mushqat). He said that at times, he could hear Imran Khan’s voice while he spoke to his assistant, mostly discussing cricket rather than politics.
Engineer Mirza also revealed that Imran Khan was provided with certain facilities in jail. These included access to a television and two daily newspapers. He added that Imran Khan was given raw meat, which was cooked by his assistant, and the aroma of desi ghee tempering would often spread nearby.

Sharing details of Imran Khan’s routine, Engineer Mirza said the former premier ate twice a day — breakfast at around 9am and a meal at approximately 3pm. However, he noted that after November 4, he stopped hearing Imran Khan’s voice.
Later, jail staff informed him that Imran Khan had been shifted to another section of the prison because that area received better sunlight.
