This interest-free program, launched by the Punjab government on September 17, 2025, aims to revolutionize public transport. The Provincial Transport Department has sent the complete list of applicants to the Bank of Punjab, which will oversee the transparent balloting process. Following the computerized draw, successful applicants will be contacted to submit their down payments. Officials have confirmed that those who complete the required deposit will receive their new electric taxis, imported from China, within three to four months. The initial phase will see the distribution of 1,100 e-taxis, with 30 units specifically reserved for women drivers to promote female empowerment in the transport sector.
