While addressing a lawyers’ convention in Mardan, Asad Qaiser said the current National Assembly is a Form 47 assembly, adding the kind of legislation Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar is doing is affecting the supremacy of law.
He also announced taking to the streets against inflation and the increase in electricity bills on August 5.
Asad Qaiser said the names of those who signed agreements with the Independent Power Producers (IPPs) should be revealed to the nation.
He added the supremacy of law and the Constitution in the country is very important, adding the legislation made by the current assembly has no status.
On the other hand, PTI Senator Ejaz Chaudhary told the media during his court appearance in Lahore that he is the only parliamentarian who was jailed in a false case.
“My production orders were issued twice, once by Mirza Afridi and the second time by Raja Pervaiz Ashraf. Yousaf Raza Gilani’s behaviour is surprising as he did not issue production orders. An innocent member of his House is in jail, but he does not care,” he said.
Ejaz Chaudhary said Hafiz Naeem has rebuilt Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), stating the PTI workers should join JI protests.
PTI leader Mian Mehmood-ul-Rasheed said instead of new elections, emphasis should be laid on opening Form 45. “We will accept whatever decision the party takes regarding the new elections,” he added.
On the occasion, Opposition Leader Punjab Assembly Ahmad Khan Bhachar said in a media interview that the nation should be ready for the election by December. “A new movement will start from August 5. We are hurt that they are oppressing our leaders,” he added.
