Sanam Javed released after quashing of new FIA case

ISLAMABAD: Sanam Javed, prominet Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) activist, was released from jail on Sunday after an Islamabad court quashed a case filed by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) against her.

As soon as the court quashed the case and ordered her release, Sanam and her family were swiftly escorted by PTI lawyers.

In a brief media talk, Sanam Javed thanked Almighty for her release after more than one year of incarceration.

Following her release, the PTI activist’s lawyer Mian Ali Ashfaq Advocate shared a picture on social media platform X.

Last Thursday, a division bench of the Lahore High Court (LHC) discharged the PTI activist in a case registered against her in Gujranwala following the May 9, 2023 riots.

An LHC bench, headed by Justice Asjad Javaid Ghural, had discharged her after the law officer failed to prove her connection to the offenses outlined in the first information report (FIR).

On Saturday, she was rearrested by the Islamabad Police as soon as she stepped out of the Central Jail of Gujranwala.
