LAHORE: (Web Desk) In compliance with court order, the Punjab government has decided to allow the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to hold a rally in Lahore tomorrow.

According to sources, the decision will be formally announced after some time, which will include the meeting venue and other details.

According to preliminary information, PTI is being allowed to hold a rally on a venue other than Minar-e-Pakistan.

In this regard, an important meeting of the District Intelligence Committee was held under the chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner Lahore, in which the security and arrangements of the rally in Lahore were reviewed.

In this meeting, taking into consideration the police reports, various suggestions were considered in this respect.

According to sources, the Deputy Commissioner Lahore has asked the Punjab Police for a report on the security and public arrangements of the rally in order to make the rally safe and orderly.

The Lahore High Court also rejected the petition filed to stop the meeting of Tehreek-e-Insaf this morning, declaring it inadmissible. The court directed the government to take a decision regarding the permission of the rally by 5 pm.

In the meeting, the police and other concerned officials also discussed the security concerns related to the holding of the rally and the situation after the recent rally in Islamabad.

Earlier, the Lahore High Court (LHC) had ordered the city’s deputy commissioner to decide by 5pm upon PTI’s petitions for permission to hold a rally in the provincial capital tomorrow.

A three-member LHC bench took up the petitions a day ago and sought the personal appearance of top civil brass, including the Punjab chief secretary, the police chief, the commissioner, the DC, and the advocate general.

The PTI already launched its mass contact campaign to muster support for the much-hyped Lahore power show at the Minar-e-Pakistan ground.

For holding a jalsa, the petitions had been filed by PTI leaders, including ex-MNA Aalia Hamza Malik, MPA Imtiaz Mahmood Sheikh and party’s Lahore Vice President Akmal Khan Bari.
