ISLAMABAD (Web Desk): The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has announced its decision to part ways with the government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), declaring that it will now sit in opposition.

President of PML-N AJK, Shah Ghulam Qadir, said that if the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) moves a no-confidence motion in AJK, it would be their democratic right, but the PML-N will not become part of any new government.

He emphasized that the party will not support any “unnatural political setup” and will remain in opposition. Qadir also warned that any member violating party policy would face disciplinary action.

The PML-N leader added that a new government in AJK can only be formed through transparent elections. He stated that the party is working for the welfare of Kashmiri refugees and overseas Kashmiris and has emerged as an organized and popular political force in the region.

Shah Ghulam Qadir further said that the party will continue to play a positive role in resolving AJK’s constitutional and political challenges. He reiterated that only general elections can bring a stable government to Azad Kashmir and assured that PML-N will launch a full-scale election campaign under the leadership of Nawaz Sharif and Shehbaz Sharif.

It is worth noting that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) recently announced plans to bring a no-confidence motion against AJK Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwar-ul-Haq.

The PML-N’s decision to exit the AJK government signals a widening political divide in the region. Analysts believe this move could pave the way for early elections, especially as tensions rise between key political players. By distancing itself from coalition politics, the PML-N appears to be positioning itself as a strong opposition force ahead of the next polls.
