According to details, Afzaal Hussain, brother of PML-N leader and federal minister Rana Tanveer and father of MNA Rana Atiq Anwar, was under treatment in a private hospital in Lahore for a few days.

Rana Afzaal Hussain was also elected Member of the National Assembly in 2008 and 2013. He won the PP-139 seat from Sheikhupura by getting 46,585 votes in the by-election held on April 21, 2024.

Ijaz Hussain Bhatti, the candidate of the PTI-backed Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC), came second with 29,833 votes in the by-election.
