Omar Ayub removed from the position of opposition leader

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk): Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Omar Ayub has been removed from his position and his seat has been officially declared vacant.

This step has been taken by the National Assembly Secretariat following the decision of the Election Commission.

According to reports, the posts of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) s Zartaj Gul as parliamentary leader and Ahmed Chatha as deputy parliamentary leader have also been terminated. Along with this, the opposition leader s chamber has also been withdrawn from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

Speaker of the National Assembly has informed the House about the disqualification of the members. In this regard, consultations have been started between the opposition parties and the Speaker for the appointment of a new opposition leader. The Speaker of the National Assembly will issue a formal notification after the election of the new opposition leader.

According to parliamentary sources, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and independent members will have to re-nominate names for the new parliamentary leader and deputy parliamentary leader.

On the other hand, political experts say that this change could have a profound impact on the opposition s alignment in the House and government-opposition relations.
