National crises: Imran terms fair and transparent elections only way out

RAWALPINDI: (Web Desk) Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan has said that the only way to steer the country out of crises is fair and transparent elections.

Talking to journalists in Adiala Jail, he strongly criticized the present government and the role of establishment in politics.

Imran Khan said that the real authority in the country belongs to the establishment while Shahbaz Sharif has been named prime minister only for formal events. He said that the current government has shattered the hopes of the people and no one has trust in it. Imran added that if the establishment wants to save Pakistan, it has to go for transparent elections.

Talking about rigging in the recent general elections, he said that historical rigging has taken place in the polls. He criticized Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa. He said that everyone knows that the Election Commission of Pakistan conducted fraudulent elections. Imran Khan added that the US Congress is also saying that fraudulent elections have taken place in Pakistan.

The PTI founder also expressed concerns about putting pressure on the media. He said that plans are being made to suppress the media. To a question, he said that the country is ruled by the establishment and for transparent elections the establishment will have to step back.

Imran Khan also commented on the economic situation of the country. He said that the debt of the country was Rs28 trillion in 2021, which has increased to Rs80 to Rs90 trillion in 4 years. He said that the burden on the people has increased and the electricity tariffs have also increased.

He questioned the trials of civilians in the military courts. He said in which democracy trials of civilians take place in military courts. Talking about his situation, he said that he is being treated as if he has committed the biggest treason.

Emphasizing the importance of democracy, Imran Khan said that democracy runs on moral behavior and where democracy is free, the country develops. He said that the grave of democracy is being dug in Pakistan and human rights are being violated.
