According to NADRA officials, a large number of citizens in Pakistan delay registering the deaths of their family members. This causes serious issues in matters like inheritance, pension claims, and legal documentation.
Acting on the special directives of Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, NADRA has taken decisive steps to solve this long-standing issue.
Reports suggest that since these new measures were introduced, death registrations have increased sixfold, resulting in greater data accuracy and transparency across NADRA’s records. Citizens can now use the Pak ID app to register the death of a close relative and request ID card cancellation directly from home.
As part of a pilot project, the app-based system has been launched in three districts of Punjab, where citizens can now register births, marriages, divorces, and deaths easily. NADRA plans to expand this facility nationwide soon.
Additionally, the Pak ID app now includes features for viewing family records and reporting data discrepancies, making it more convenient for users to manage their household information digitally.

This initiative marks a significant step toward digital governance in Pakistan. By making death registration and ID cancellation free and online, NADRA has removed a major bureaucratic hurdle. The move not only helps families settle inheritance and pension cases smoothly but also strengthens national data reliability. With the Pak ID app expanding nationwide, Pakistan is moving closer to a truly connected and transparent digital system.
