Karachi Commissioner Hassan Naqvi has fixed the prices for these daily essentials to ensure fairness and control inflation in the city. According to the notification:
100-gram roti will now be sold for Rs10
120-gram naan will cost Rs15
150-gram naan is set at Rs17
180-gram naan will be available for a maximum of Rs22
The commissioner strictly directed all tandoor owners to display the official price list clearly, or face strict legal action. He also urged the public to report any violations and shared a dedicated complaint number: 021-99203443.
“Overcharging will not be tolerated,” said the commissioner, adding that violating the official rate list is a punishable offense, and a control room has also been set up to monitor naan and roti prices.
It’s worth noting that just a day earlier, a reduction in flour prices was also officially announced, with cuts ranging from Rs. 10 to Rs. 17 per kilo.
In a city like Karachi where inflation hits hard, this price control on roti and naan could offer some real relief to families. But only if the rules are followed—and enforced. Will the new prices truly be implemented in every neighborhood? Let’s see how the public responds.
