Justice Farooq Haider conducted the hearing and upheld the registrar’s objection. The objection states that PTI must first approach the government’s redressal committee before moving court.
It further states that if the committee does not permit, the court would intervene.
The petition was filed by PTI leader Akmal Khan Bari, who argued that the party had formally requested permission from the authorities but had received no response. PTI’s lawyer contended that involving the redressal committee would be ineffective.
The LHC ruled that the proper legal procedures must be followed before seeking court intervention.
According to the petition, the party wants to hold a public rally in line with the law and constitution but has been denied permission for a peaceful assembly. It has requested the court to permit the party to hold the rally at Minar Pakistan.
Earlier, Lahore’s district administration denied PTI to arrange a gathering at the Minar-e-Pakistan on February 8.
