ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan has postponed his party’s planned nationwide protests for at least two weeks in light of the ongoing situation in the Middle East.

This development was shared by Mr Khan’s sisters, Noreen Niazi and Uzma, following their meeting with him at Adiala Jail on Tuesday.

However, his third sister, Aleema, was not permitted to meet him.

Speaking to the media, Ms Niazi mentioned that her brother was “well aware of the international situation” and emphasized that Pakistan should remain united during the Iran-Israel war.

Ms Uzma added that the world was already aware of Mr Khan’s stance against Israel.

Previously, Mr Khan had urged his supporters to begin preparations for countrywide protests after Eidul Azha.

PTI Central Information Secretary Sheikh Waqqas Akram also confirmed the postponement of protests, stating, “We are passing through very sensitive time. So it has been decided that the party will not hold any protest for two weeks,” he told Dawn.

Raoof Hasan, the head of PTI’s political think tank, remarked that the global situation—especially in the Middle East—was evolving swiftly.

“It is the need of time to stop all kinds of protests and give a message that the whole nation is united,” he said.
