Barrister Gohar Ali Khan spoke to the media after meeting PTI’s founder Imran Khan in Adiala Jail. He said that Imran Khan announced the end of negotiations today, as the government had promised to form a commission within seven days, but no commission has been formed so far. Therefore, the PTI’s founder declared the end of negotiations, he added
The PTI’s chairman further stated that today he, along with other lawyers, met Imran Khan, and if the commission was not announced during this meeting, then there would be no further rounds of negotiations. The government has still not announced the commission, and we had hoped that the talks would continue, he added.
Barrister Gohar also mentioned that political differences are so intense that they can’t be bridged, and if a commission is to be formed, it should consist of three senior judges from the Supreme Court or High Court. We will continue our struggle according to the constitution and the law, and will oppose the independent judiciary and the 26th amendment, he asserted, adding that we will start a joint struggle with all political parties.
The PTI’s chairman concluded by stating that Imran Khan had said that the commission was supposed to be announced by today but it has not happened. The PTI’s founder has also previously stated that we do not need any foreign assistance, nor does PTI believe in that, he stated.
