
According to local sources, the attackers stormed into Mufti Habibullah’s residence and opened indiscriminate fire, resulting in his immediate death. His wife sustained serious injuries in the incident and was rushed to a nearby medical facility for emergency treatment.
The cold-blooded killing has plunged the entire Barawal region into deep mourning. Locals report a heavy security presence in the area as authorities begin investigating the assassination. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet.

In response to the tragic killing, JUI leadership has reacted strongly. District Ameer Mufti Ehsanullah has announced nationwide protest demonstrations, condemning the brutal murder of their senior party member. An emergency meeting of party leaders has also been called to discuss the situation and future course of action.
The funeral prayer for Mufti Habibullah Haqqani will be held today at 2 PM, with a large number of political, religious, and local community members expected to attend.
Mufti Habibullah was widely respected for his religious scholarship and services to the community. His death is being seen as a major blow to the party and the religious community in the region.
Authorities have started an investigation on the incident and continued to search for the perpetrators as pressure mounts for swift justice.
In a separate update the Amir of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Punjab, renowned Islamic scholar, and head of Jamia Madania Jadeed, Raiwind Road Lahore, Maulana Syed Mehmood Mian, passed away after a prolonged illness.
