Pakistan has officially announced the sighting of the Rajab moon, marking the start of the sacred Islamic month across the country.
The Ministry of Religious Affairs issued a notification after the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee confirmed the moon sighting. The announcement followed a meeting chaired by Maulana Syed Muhammad Abdul Khabir Azad.
According to the notification, the first day of Rajab-ul-Murajjab 1447 Hijri will be observed on Monday, December 22. Zonal and district Ruet-e-Hilal committees also held meetings at their respective locations to review moon sighting reports.
The confirmation has brought clarity for Muslims planning religious activities during the holy month. Rajab is considered one of the most sacred months in the Islamic calendar and holds deep spiritual importance.
The Ministry further announced that Youm-e-Wiladat Ameer-ul-Momineen Hazrat Ali (RA) will be observed on January 3, while Shab-e-Meraj will fall on January 16.
Shab-e-Meraj marks the miraculous night journey of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), when Allah Almighty summoned Him to the heavens. Muslims observe the night with prayers, remembrance, and reflection.
