(Web Desk): Punjab Police order a province-wide audit of licensing centres to tackle corruption and restore transparency.

The Punjab Police have announced a province-wide special audit of all driving licence centres after serious corruption allegations surfaced. The decision aims to ensure transparency, fairness, and accountability in the licensing process.

A directive from the AIG Inspection has instructed all district officers to assign SP-rank officers to oversee the entire audit. Officials said the audit will investigate corruption complaints, overcharging of fees, and the role of the agent mafia in manipulating licence procedures.

A detailed 20-point checklist has been prepared for inspectors. It covers areas such as unauthorized fee collection, misuse of authority, and the fairness of driving tests. Teams will also review video footage from sign and road tests, including recordings from the past 30 days, to identify irregularities.

Inspection officers have been told to examine all records, registers, and supporting evidence thoroughly. Their findings must include detailed observations and clear recommendations. The final audit reports are due by November 25.
