The new Birth and Death Registration Rules 2025 have officially come into effect across Punjab.
Now, residents across the province can register births and deaths free of charge. Under Maryam Nawaz’s directive, computerized birth and death certificates will also be issued at no cost. Citizens can have entries made at Union Councils and Municipal Committees without any fees for up to seven years from the date of the event.
Additionally, the requirement of obtaining a court decree for late registration of births and deaths has been removed.
Chief Minister stated that identity is a fundamental right of every citizen, and the government aims to make processes easier for the people. She emphasized that a digital birth or death certificate will be mandatory for accessing government services. Timely registration, she added, is crucial for ensuring the protection of citizens’ rights.
