KARACHI (Web Desk): Pakistan will witness a total lunar eclipse, or “Blood Moon,” on September 7–8, 2025, with clear visibility.

Pakistan will witness a total lunar eclipse, commonly known as Chand Grahan, on the night of September 7 and 8, 2025, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).

A lunar eclipse occurs when the sun, earth, and moon align in such a way that the moon passes into the earth’s shadow. During a total lunar eclipse, the moon completely enters the darkest part of earth’s shadow, known as the umbra.

When the moon is within this umbra, it takes on a red-orange hue, often referred to as a “Blood Moon” because of its striking colour.

According to PMD, the penumbral phase will begin at 8:28 PM (PST) on September 7, followed by the partial eclipse at 9:27 PM. The total eclipse will start at 10:31 PM and reach its maximum at 11:12 PM the same night.

The rare celestial event will be visible across many regions, and sky-watchers in Pakistan will be able to view the phenomenon in clear skies.
