
The Meteorological Department forecasts intermittent rain in Islamabad and most districts of Punjab until September 9.
Rain is expected in Islamabad and Rawalpindi divisions in the coming hours, with partly cloudy skies and winds up to 11 km/h. Temperatures in Islamabad may reach a maximum of 31°C, with pleasant weather due to cool winds and dark clouds.
Lahore is also experiencing showers and drizzle, which has made the weather more pleasant. The temperature ranges between 26°C and 29°C, with humidity rising to 90%. More rain is expected in the next 24 hours.
In Karachi, after a spell of humid weather, rain with thunderstorms is predicted this evening. The current temperature stands at 28°C, with a maximum of 33°C expected. Winds are blowing from the southwest at 11 km/h, and humidity is at 81%, maintaining the humid conditions.
Meanwhile, heavy rains in Hyderabad and other districts of Sindh have raised concerns over possible flooding in low-lying areas. The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued alerts for southern Punjab districts including Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Ahmedpur, Liaquatpur, Zahir Pir, Rajanpur, Khanpur, Muzaffargarh, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rahim Yar Khan, and Sadiqabad. These areas may experience heavy rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds over the next 24 to 48 hours intermittently.
Intense rains could cause flash floods in hill torrents, landslides, and urban flooding as per the Meteorological Department and National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA). Electricity may be disrupted by the toppling of weak trees due to strong winds. Citizens are advised to avoid unnecessary travel, stay away from trees and weak structures, park vehicles safely, and follow instructions from local authorities.
Water levels in major dams across the country remain under control, with water levels at 1550 ft and 1752 ft at Tarbela and Rawal dams nearly full, respectively. Mangla dam stands at 1231 ft, Khanpur at 1981 ft, and Simly dam at 2315.15 ft. Authorities are managing spillway gates to safely discharge excess water.

Rain continues in Tharparkar districts including Mithi, Islamkot, and Nangarparkar, with precipitation expected to persist until tonight.
The public is advised by the Meteorological Department to stay alert and take necessary precautions as the monsoon season continues with more rain forecast in several regions of Pakistan.
