
The Sindh Labour Appellate Tribunal has suspended the Labour Court s decision and ordered the reinstatement of 5,744 employees.
The administration of Pakistan Steel had filed a case in the Labour Court after terminating these employees.
On February 22, the Labour Court had accepted Pakistan Steel s administration s request and upheld the termination of the employees. However, the affected employees challenged this decision in the Appellate Tribunal.
After the initial hearing, the Sindh Labour Appellate Tribunal suspended the Labour Court s ruling and ordered the reinstatement of all 5,744 Pakistan Steel employees. The Tribunal also issued a notice to Pakistan Steel s administration, requiring a response by May 14.
This decision to reinstate the employees is being hailed as a significant victory for the working class. It has not only brought joy to thousands of families but has also been praised by labour unions, who have welcomed the court s action.
