Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi Dr Hassan Waqar Cheema has issued a local holiday notification. The local holiday will apply to all provincial institutions and departments.
According to a statement issued by the Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi, all emergency services agencies will operate as usual.
Earlier, the Deputy Commissioner issued a notification that there will be a local holiday in Islamabad on August 13. Important offices including the Supreme Court will remain open, and the National Assembly session will also be held as usual.
According to the district administration, the local holiday will be within the revenue limits of Islamabad, however, MCI, CDA, ICT Administration and Police offices will remain open. According to the notification, there will also be no holiday in IESCO, SNGPL and hospitals.

There are likely to be 5 holidays in Pakistan in the month of August, including Independence Day on August 14. According to the Cabinet Division notification, Pakistan will have a public holiday on August 14 on Pakistan Day, while Chehlum Imam Hussain will be observed on Friday, August 15.
The Chehlum holiday is not included in the federal holidays, however, in the case of a provincial-level local holiday, there will be a holiday in the relevant areas. Last year, a public holiday was declared on the occasion of Chehlum in Rawalpindi and Karachi.
In the event of a Chehlum holiday in certain areas, the holidays of Thursday, August 14, Friday, August 15, Saturday, August 16, and Sunday, August 17 may be combined.
It may be recalled that a public holiday has been declared on August 15 in Lahore on the occasion of the Urs of Hazrat Data Ganj Bakhsh. The district administration has also issued a notification of a public holiday on August 15. There will be 4-day holidays in Lahore, including August 14, Independence Day, and August 15, along with Saturday and Sunday.
On the other hand, all government and private educational institutions across Sindh will remain closed on August 15. The Sindh Education Department has announced a holiday on August 15 in government and private schools on the occasion of Chehlum Imam Hussain (RA). The Sindh Education Department has also issued a notification of the holiday.
