(Web Desk): Punjab government has launched helpline 1071 under CM Maryam Nawaz’s Transport Vision 2030 to help commuters report overcharging and misconduct, ensuring safer and more transparent public transport.

In a major step toward passenger convenience and accountability, the Punjab government has launched a dedicated helpline, 1071, allowing commuters to report overcharging, driver misconduct, and other travel-related complaints directly to authorities.

The initiative, introduced under Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s Transport Vision 2030, reflects the government’s commitment to transforming Punjab’s transport network into a safer, smarter, and more transparent system. According to the Punjab Transport Department, the helpline aims to enhance service quality, ensure fare compliance, and provide a direct communication channel between citizens and transport officials.

A department spokesperson said, “The 1071 helpline will serve as an immediate response platform for passengers, helping us address transport issues promptly while promoting transparency and public trust.”

Officials further stated that the new system will help identify violations such as fare overcharging, reckless driving, poor vehicle maintenance, and unethical behavior by drivers or staff. The move is part of a wider modernization plan focused on accessible, affordable, and technology-driven mobility for millions of commuters across Punjab.

The helpline’s launch is also aligned with Punjab’s Transport Vision 2030, which prioritizes digital monitoring, cleaner energy buses, and citizen feedback integration to ensure a sustainable future for urban transport.
