Payment Structure
Punjab’s electric taxi program offers loans up to Rs6.5 million per vehicle, with buyers making a subsidized down payment. For vehicles costing between Rs4 million and Rs10 million, the government pays Rs585,000 of the down payment and covers the interest, making electric taxi ownership more affordable.
The placement of solar-powered charging stations has been mandated by the government to support eco-conscious transit. The stations will be set every 3 km in Lahore. The scheme involves collaboration with Dewan Motors, supplying locally assembled electric models such as the Honri VC20 (200 km range) and VC30 (300 km range).

The in-principle approval was granted during a high-level transport meeting chaired by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
This will benefit Punjab’s congested urban centres as transitioning to electric reduces smog and environmental impact. Moreover, this scheme offers job opportunities for self-employment, especially for youth, women, and marginalized groups.
