Petroleum price adjustments are announced fortnightly in tandem with international oil market movements and movements in foreign exchange rates. Experts are of the view that although petrol stability is a relief to private consumers, the increase in diesel, which is widely employed in transport and agriculture, could put inflationary pressure in the weeks ahead.
The Finance Ministry insisted that the adjustment seeks to realign domestic fuel prices with global patterns.
