ISLAMABAD (Web Desk): The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has unveiled new test centres for the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) 2025.

The changes are designed to reduce the travel burden and related costs for candidates hailing from Sindh and Balochistan.

Newly designated for students from upper Sindh—previously required to travel to Karachi, Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, Larkana, Shaheed Benazirabad, or Sukkur—this local centre will significantly cut down on long journeys and associated stress.

Two new test locations will operate under the auspices of Sukkur IBA University and Bolan University of Medical and Health Sciences, Quetta. These centres will especially benefit students from Sindh, Balochistan, and the federal capital, who no longer need to return to their home provinces to sit the exam.

It was recounted by Dr. Asif Ahmed Shaikh, Vice Chancellor of Sukkur IBA, how a retake was efficiently managed last year by the institution following a paper leak in Sindh. Despite limited preparation time, the exam was held transparently, with minor technical issues addressed swiftly. Despite limited preparation time, the university’s capability to organize fair testing even under pressure was demonstrated by this move.

PMDC Registration Timeline and Fee Structure

·        Registration Window: Open from August 8 to August 25, with a late registration option available until September 1, 2025.

·        Exam Date: MDCAT 2025 is scheduled for October 5, 2025, starting at 10:00 AM.

·        Fee Structure:
o Domestic candidates: Rs 9,000
o Late registration: Rs 13,000
o Candidates abroad: Starts at Rs 45,000, with a late fee raising it to Rs 55,000

The PMDC also responded to circulating claims of an 80% exam fee hike, clarifying that the increase from Rs 8,000 in 2024 to Rs 9,000 in 2025 represents only a 12.5% increase—not the exaggerated figures seen on social media.

Institutional Roles & Oversight
To ensure transparency and coordination, the test will be administered regionally by nominated universities:

·        Punjab: University of Health Sciences, Lahore

·        Sindh: Sukkur IBA University, Sukkur

·        Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Khyber Medical University, Peshawar

·        Balochistan: Bolan University of Medical & Health Sciences, Quetta
