(Web Desk): Gujranwala authorities have seized vehicles loaded with dead and diseased chickens during a routine inspection at the More Eminabad Toll Plaza, according to a spokesperson for the Punjab Food Authority (PFA).

During the operation, officials recovered approximately 650 kilograms of dead and sick poultry from two vehicles bearing registration numbers LEC-2419 and GAS-482. The confiscated chickens were immediately examined by a veterinary doctor, who declared the meat unfit for human consumption due to its hazardous nature.

According to the PFA spokesperson, the suspects failed to present any essential documentation related to the poultry’s source or health certification. Investigations revealed that the contaminated meat was intended to be supplied to markets in Gujranwala city and surrounding suburban areas.

Authorities have lodged a formal case against the owner of the vehicle involved in what officials described as a “heinous trade of deception,” where public health is jeopardized for the sake of higher profits. The PFA stressed that such mafias are not selling food but spreading disease, putting countless lives at risk.

The spokesperson further stated that new regulations are being drafted to curb the supply of substandard and hazardous meat. These measures aim to dismantle networks involved in such illegal activities and ensure that only safe, hygienic food reaches the public.

The incident has once again highlighted the urgent need for stricter monitoring and enforcement of food safety laws in Pakistan to protect consumers from dangerous and unhealthy products.
