(Web Desk): LPG has become cheaper by Rs20 per kg in Karachi and the price has come down from Rs240 to Rs220 to Rs230 per kg.

There is a mix of relief and concern among citizens as the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has officially reduced the price of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) by Rs20 per kg. The new official rate for August has been set at Rs217 per kg, providing some financial ease to households amid rising inflation.

In local markets, LPG is now being sold at prices ranging between Rs220 and Rs230 per kg, a notable drop from the earlier rate of Rs240. This reduction has been welcomed by many residents who were struggling with high fuel expenses.

However, the joy is short-lived for some, as domestic gas loadshedding continues to affect daily life. Citizens have raised concerns that while the reduction in LPG prices is helpful, the persistent shortage of piped natural gas in homes has forced many to rely entirely on LPG cylinders, which are not always easily available or affordable for everyone.

OGRA’s decision is part of its monthly price adjustment based on global market trends and local supply factors. While the move is seen as a positive step, residents urge the government to also take urgent measures to resolve the gas supply crisis, especially in residential areas.

Many families across Punjab and other provinces are now heavily dependent on LPG for cooking and heating, particularly during early morning and evening hours when natural gas pressure is at its lowest. Without a sustainable solution to gas loadshedding, they say, price cuts alone will not ease their difficulties.
