Karachi police announces traffic plan for 8th–10th Muharram 2025
KARACHI (Web Desk): The Karachi police has issued a detailed traffic diversion plan for 9th and 10th Muharram in light of processions, and it outlines alternative traffic flows and procession routes.

The city prepares for central Ashura processions starting from Nishtar Park and ending at Hussainiya Iranian Imambargah.

To ensure security, MA Jinnah Road will be closed from Guru Mandir to Tower during processions. Only vehicles with official procession stickers will be allowed access via Shahrah-e-Quaideen.

Key alternate routes include:
From Nazimabad: via Lasbela Chowk to Nishtar Road.
From Liaquatabad: via Tin Hatti to Lasbela to Martin Road.
• From Hassan Square: via Kashmir Road to Jail Flyover to Nishtar Road.
From Sharea Faisal: via Society Signal to Kashmir Road.
For heavy traffic: Diversions set through Liaquatabad, Nazimabad, Habib Bank Flyover, State Avenue to Maripur.

Head of Muharrem Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi recently held important meetings with prominent Islamic religious.The discussions focused on promoting religious tolerance, maintaining inter-sect unity, and coordinating security arrangements for upcoming processions and gatherings.

Minister Naqvi assured scholars of the government’s determination to safeguarding all religious events and emphasized strict action to be taken against hate speech and sectarianism. Religious leaders, pledged their support in guiding their communities responsibly during this sensitive period and promoting peace.

Strict security measures are being implemented across the country, including the deployment of army and crackdown on any who promote hate content and sectarianism.
Sindh’s government has deployed over 49,000 police personnel across Karachi and other major cities. Around 35,000 officers will guard Muharram processions, with an additional 14,000 personnel deployed for gatherings.

July 5 and July 6 have been officially announced by the government as public holidays in light of Ashura, which will be observed on Sunday.
