LAHORE (Web Desk): In a harrowing case of domestic violence, 28-year-old Sana Javed has been allegedly assaulted by her husband and father-in-law.

Anwar Mahmood and father-in-law, Ghulam Hussain, tortured Sana Javed in Shafiqabad after her parents were unable to furnish a large sum of money demanded by them.

According to initial police reports, the suspects began by beating her with fists and kicks. They then proceeded to yank her hair and throw her head against a concrete wall, which caused her to bleed profusely. Sana sustained multiple deep head injuries, making her face bruised and disfigured.

Sana is seen in agony, crying out for help and describing the torture she endured at the hands of her husband and father-in-law in a distressing video clip shared on social media.

The police complaint was filed by Sana’s uncle, Sohail. Officers registered the case against both accused after Sana s statement. Currently, Sana is hospitalized and is recovering from her injuries under medical supervision.

Domestic abuse, particularly financially motivated torture by in-laws, seems to be a pattern that has been surrounding Pakistan as of late, as recent years have seen several brutal cases in Lahore and across Punjab.

This incident highlights systemic issues facing many women: coercive financial demands, violent enforcement, and inadequate initial response from law enforcement. While Lahore has seen some progress in registering FIRs and conducting post-mortems, enforcement and justice remain uneven.
