HEC mulls reducing LLB duration to 4 years
ISLAMABAD (Web Desk): In an important meeting held under the Higher Education Commission (HEC), the participants discussed duration and curriculum of LLB programme.

The meeting proposed the reduction in the duration of the LLB program from 5 years to 4 years and revamping the curriculum.

The meeting was presided over by HEC Executive Director Dr. Zia Ul Qayyum, Pakistan Bar Council Member Hassan Raza Pasha, and Director of the Directorate of Legal Education Barrister Osama Malik. Representatives from 44 universities across the country participated in the meeting.

All participants agreed that curriculum changes are essential to align the LLB programme with the international standards.

Barrister Osama Malik and Hassan Raza Pasha emphasised the need to focus on preparing a curriculum that meets modern requirements and training faculty accordingly.

The meeting also discussed important matters such as the implementation of the semester system, quality control to improve academic standards, and teacher training.

It is worth noting that these proposals are being viewed as a significant step towards bringing Pakistani legal education closer to global standards and providing better opportunities for students. The results of the meeting are expected to be finalized soon.
