(Web Desk): Bajaur blast claimed the lives of five individuals including an assistant commissioner while 11 others injured, on Wednesday.

According to media reports, a bomb blast occurred near the Nawagai area of Bajaur district killing five individuals, including an assistant commissioner.

According to official reports, the explosion targeted a government vehicle on Nawagai Road near the Siddiqabad railway crossing in Khar tehsil. The victims include the assistant commissioner of Nawagai, a police subedar, and another police official.

The blast occurred while the officials were passing through the area. Law enforcement agencies stated that the incident is under investigation, though preliminary findings indicate the use of an improvised explosive device (IED) planted specifically to target the government convoy.

Following the attack, security personnel and rescue teams quickly reached the site and cordoned off the area. Rescue teams transported the injured to a nearby hospital where emergency has declared.

Several of the wounded are reported to be in critical condition.
