As per the official document, the DRA will be calculated on the basic pay as of June 30, 2022. However, employees who were recruited on or after July 1, 2022, will receive the allowance based on the 2017 basic pay scale.
The move comes as part of the government’s broader effort to reduce pay disparities among public sector employees, particularly those in lower and middle pay scales, and is expected to bring some relief amid rising inflation and economic pressures.
The announcement has been widely welcomed by government workers, although unions continue to demand further structural reforms in pay scales to ensure long-term fairness and consistency in compensation across all departments.
