JD Vance has arrived in Islamabad for US Iran ceasefire talks, marking a critical phase in ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing tensions between Washington and Tehran.
The high-level US delegation landed at Nur Khan Air Base, where Vice President Vance was received by top Pakistani leadership, including Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi along with other senior officials.
The visit is part of intensified diplomatic activity surrounding Islamabad peace negotiations, with both the United States and Iran engaging in indirect and direct discussions aimed at preventing further escalation in the region.
According to travel details, the US Vice President’s aircraft took an unusually long route to reach Pakistan, avoiding several regional airspaces. After departing from Maryland, the plane made a brief two-and-a-half-hour stopover in Paris before continuing its journey.

The flight resumed from Paris at around 3:00 AM Pakistan time and traveled via Georgia, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, and Tajikistan, before entering Pakistani airspace near Chitral and landing at Nur Khan Air Base at approximately 10:33 AM.
Alongside JD Vance, the US delegation also includes key figures such as Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, reflecting the strategic importance of the ongoing negotiations.
Before departure, Vance expressed cautious optimism, stating that he believes the talks will be productive. He emphasized that if Iran demonstrates good faith, the United States is ready to respond positively, but warned that any attempt to manipulate the process would not be accepted.
On the Iranian side, a high-level delegation has also arrived in Islamabad for the talks. According to the Foreign Office, the Iranian delegation is led by Speaker of the Iranian Parliament Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, and includes Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, underscoring Tehran’s serious diplomatic engagement.
The US Iran ceasefire talks in Islamabad are being closely watched by global observers, as they could determine the future direction of regional stability, energy security, and diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Analysts say the presence of senior political figures from both sides highlights the urgency of the negotiations, with hopes of achieving at least a temporary de-escalation or framework for continued dialogue.
