According to the traffic police, MT Khan Road has been closed using barriers and containers, while security personnel have been deployed in the area to restrict movement. Containers have also been placed on the PIDC Bridge and nearby roads.
Officials said roads leading to Jinnah Bridge and Mai Kolachi have also been blocked. In addition, Jinnah Bridge itself has been sealed with barriers, and the road from Boat Basin to Mai Kolachi has been closed as part of heightened security measures.
Traffic police stated that residents living within the restricted areas will still be allowed to enter or leave after showing their identity documents to security personnel stationed at checkpoints.
The strict security arrangements were put in place after protests broke out last Sunday following the martyrdom of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Demonstrations quickly turned violent in Karachi near the US consulate.
During the protest, at least 11 people lost their lives, and several others were injured after firing occurred outside the diplomatic compound.

Witnesses said protesters carrying black flags gathered near the consulate and chanted slogans such as “Down with America!” along with anti-Israel chants. The demonstrators also managed to breach the outer wall of the US consulate compound and caused damage to the property.
On Tuesday, Reuters reported that US Marines opened fire when demonstrators attempted to storm the Karachi consulate over the weekend.
According to preliminary information shared by two US officials, it remains unclear whether the bullets fired by Marines hit or killed anyone. They also said it is still unknown whether shots were fired by other security forces guarding the mission, including private security staff and local police.
Authorities in Karachi continue to monitor the security situation, while traffic restrictions remain in place in sensitive areas of the city.
