KARACHI (Web Desk): The Inspector General (IG) Sindh has placed Karachi on high alert after convening a high-level meeting to review law and order and assess fresh intelligence reports.

Officials said the meeting reviewed security concerns amid recent cross-border developments and assessed protection measures for sensitive government and private installations across the city.

Intelligence agencies briefed participants on possible terrorist threats and vulnerabilities along key internal and external routes.

The IG ordered enhanced security at all entry and exit points and directed district-level Quick Response Forces (QRF) to remain on round-the-clock alert.

He instructed police to ensure close coordination with the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and Special Branch for timely intelligence sharing and swift action.

Senior officers were directed to personally inspect sensitive sites and maintain field presence. Daily general hold-ups were made mandatory, with snap checking to be conducted twice a day.

The IG also called for intensified action against professional beggars and street criminals to maintain public order.

The measures aim to strengthen vigilance, safeguard critical infrastructure, and prevent any potential security breach. The meeting reaffirmed Sindh Police’s commitment to ensuring the safety of Karachi’s residents.
