(Web Desk): Islamabad traffic diversion plan enforced as Red Zone is sealed and roads closed ahead of key Iran–US talks, with alternate routes and heavy traffic restrictions in place.

Authorities have implemented a comprehensive Islamabad traffic diversion plan, sealing the Red Zone and extended Red Zone while closing several major roads amid heightened security arrangements.

The measures come as Islamabad prepares to host high-level diplomatic talks between Washington and Tehran, prompting strict security protocols and widespread traffic restrictions across the federal capital.

According to the Islamabad Traffic Police, multiple key routes will remain closed at different times, significantly affecting daily commuters. Kashmir Chowk to Zero Point via Club Road and Srinagar Highway has been shut, while Srinagar Highway from Zero Point to Serena Chowk is also closed.

Additional closures include Shakarparian Road from Chand Tara Chowk to Seventh Avenue and Jinnah Avenue from Khayaban Chowk toward Blue Area. Margalla Road from Faisal Chowk to Trail 3 has also been completely closed for traffic.

The Islamabad Expressway from Zero Point to Korral Chowk remains shut, further restricting movement between major parts of the city.

Authorities have also imposed a complete ban on heavy traffic entering Islamabad from April 11 to 12 as part of the security plan linked to the ongoing diplomatic engagements.

Commuters traveling from Peshawar to Rawalpindi via GT Road are advised to use alternative routes, including Taxila Motorway, Chakri, Chak Beli Road, and Rawat Road. Similarly, those traveling from Lahore to Peshawar should use Rawat, Chak Beli Road, Chakri, and the Taxila Motorway.

Traffic moving to and from Zero Point via Faisal Avenue has been diverted toward Ninth Avenue, while commuters between Bhara Kahu and Rawalpindi are advised to use Korang Road, Bani Gala, Lehtrar Road, and GT Road.

Meanwhile, vehicles traveling from Peshawar to Lahore are directed to use the Taxila Motorway and Fateh Jang Motorway via Tarnol Phatak. Heavy vehicles entering Islamabad from Lahore via GT Road have been instructed to take Chak Beli Road and Chakri Motorway to avoid congestion.

The Islamabad Traffic Police have urged citizens to plan their travel in advance, strictly follow designated alternate routes, and cooperate with authorities to minimize inconvenience during the enforcement of this large-scale traffic diversion plan.
