Pakistan’s successful mediation between the United States and Iran has triggered sharp reactions in India, where analysts and commentators are openly criticizing their government’s fading diplomatic relevance.
According to multiple Indian analysts, the growing international recognition of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir stands in stark contrast to India’s diminishing global influence.
One analyst pointedly recalled Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s statement following the Uri incident nearly a decade ago, where he pledged to isolate Pakistan internationally. Today, however, the situation appears reversed, with Pakistan gaining diplomatic prominence while India struggles to maintain its narrative on the global stage.
The criticism highlights what many describe as India’s increasingly negative and ineffective role in regional stability. Analysts argue that instead of contributing constructively, India has remained largely absent from meaningful diplomatic efforts, allowing Pakistan to step in and shape outcomes.
The development comes as both the United States and Iran agreed to a two-week ceasefire proposal put forward by Pakistan. Iran’s new Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, formally approved the agreement, signaling a significant breakthrough in easing tensions.

Iranian media reports described the situation as a diplomatic setback for former US President Donald Trump, who had earlier issued strong threats against Iran. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that Iran would halt its attacks if aggression against it ceased, adding that safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz could be maintained during the ceasefire period in coordination with military authorities.
In a notable shift, the US President also announced a pause in bombing operations against Iran for two weeks, just moments before a previously set deadline.
Overall, the episode underscores Pakistan’s rising stature as a mediator, while India faces mounting criticism for its lack of constructive engagement and declining diplomatic influence in critical global matters.
