(Web Desk): Five police constables lost their lives in a deadly attack on a police mobile in Karak, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, as operations against terrorism continue.

A tragic incident in Gurguri area of Karak, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, left five policemen martyred on Tuesday after a police mobile came under attack.

The district police spokesman, Shaukat Khan, confirmed the casualties, stating all were constables. The martyred personnel were identified as Shahid Iqbal, Samiullah, Arif, Safdar, and Muhammad Abrar, who also served as the mobile’s driver.

A large police contingent, including the district police officer, was present at the scene, and a search operation was underway to track the perpetrators. Images released by the police showed charred remains of the vehicle, indicating the ferocity of the attack.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the attack, expressing deep sorrow over the loss of lives and offering prayers for the martyred officers. In a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office, he extended condolences to the families and assured them of the government’s full support.

PM Shehbaz paid tribute to the police force, highlighting their frontline role in counter-terrorism operations and their unparalleled service in maintaining peace and security. He affirmed that Pakistan remains committed to eliminating terrorism in all its forms.

This attack is part of a troubling series of assaults on police personnel in KP. Last week, a police official and his brother were martyred in Lakki Marwat, while earlier this month, a suicide blast targeted a police mobile, leaving one officer dead and five injured. In November, three policemen were killed during a terrorist attack in Hangu.

Authorities continue to intensify operations to ensure law and order in the province.
