Islamabad (Web Desk): President Zardari says the Afghan Taliban crossed a red line after drone attacks on Pakistan that injured civilians in several cities.

He said the actions of the Afghan authorities had crossed a serious red line and could lead to major consequences.

According to a statement released by the President Secretariat’s Media Wing, Zardari criticized what he called the “illegitimate and terrorist regime” in Afghanistan.

He said the government there was installed through force and had failed to keep its promises not to allow terrorist groups to use Afghan territory as safe havens.

“The illegitimate regime of Afghanistan installed by terror and brute force continues to renege on its commitments not to provide safe sanctuaries to terrorist groups and now has the audacity to provoke a major military power of the Islamic world,” the statement quoted the president as saying.

Zardari said it was surprising that the Afghan Taliban were seeking negotiations with Pakistan’s friendly countries while, at the same time, attempting attacks that could harm civilians. He stressed that Pakistan has been working for peace and stability in the Gulf region and West Asia, but such actions threaten regional security.

The president also expressed concern over the injuries suffered by civilians after drone debris fell in different cities. He wished a speedy recovery to children and other civilians injured in Quetta, Kohat, and Rawalpindi.

Zardari also reaffirmed that Pakistan’s armed forces and security institutions remain fully committed to defending the country and protecting its citizens. Earlier, the military’s media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), reported that four civilians were injured after debris from intercepted drones fell in different areas.

Among the injured were two children in Quetta, while one civilian each was injured in Kohat and Rawalpindi. According to ISPR, the Afghan Taliban launched a few rudimentary drones on March 13, 2026, in what it described as an attempt to harass the people of Pakistan.

The military said the drones were intercepted using both soft and hard kill defence systems before reaching their intended targets. However, debris from the destroyed drones later fell in populated areas, causing injuries to civilians.

ISPR said the purpose of the attacks appeared to be to spread fear among the public and reflected what it called the terrorist mindset of the Afghan Taliban.
