Military committed to fighting terrorism till elimination of last extremist: ISPR

RAWALPINDI: (Suno News) Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, the director general (DG) of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), said that the Pakistani military is committed to fighting terrorism till the eradication of last extremist.

Addressing a press conference, the DG ISPR spoke about counter-terrorism measures, internal security, and other issues.

He said that this year so far, the military has conducted 32,173 intelligence-based operations (IBOs) against terrorists in various areas of the country.

The military’s media affairs wing chief revealed that over the past month, nearly 4,000 such operations were carried out, resulting in the death of 90 terrorists.

He further stated that 193 brave sons of soil have sacrificed their lives during the same period. He noted that the entire nation honours their sacrifice and stands with their grieving families.

He also said that the military’s operations will continue till the complete removal of all extremist elements from the region.

Regarding ongoing security challenges in Balochistan, he stated that recent terrorist activities in the region were orchestrated by both domestic and foreign adversaries.

A total of 14 security personnel sacrificed their lives protecting civilians in Balochistan, he said and added that the recent violence has no relation to Islam, humanity, or Baloch traditions.

The Pakistan Army is a national force with no political agenda or affiliations, he said.

Highlighting the case of Lieutenant General (retired) Faiz Hameed, the DG ISPR said that it is a clear example that accountability is in action, citing evidence of violations of military regulations even after his retirement.

He further said that the army has reduced its defense expenditures and has contributed RS 100 billion in duties and taxes.
