According to officials, the operation was launched after what they described as unprovoked attacks on Pakistani positions. The response was carried out under an operation named “Ghazab-lil-haqq”.
The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting said in a statement that the Afghan Taliban miscalculated by opening fire at multiple points across the border in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. It added that Pakistan’s forces gave an immediate and effective reply.

The ministry said Taliban regime forces were targeted in Chitral, Khyber, Mohmand, Kurram and Bajaur sectors. Early reports suggested heavy casualties on the Afghan side, along with destruction of several posts and equipment.
Officials said Pakistan will take all necessary steps to protect its territory and ensure the safety of its citizens.
The development comes days after intelligence-based airstrikes targeted seven camps linked to Fitna al-Khawarij in Nangarhar, Paktika and Khost. Security sources claimed more than 100 militants were killed in those strikes, which were carried out in response to recent suicide attacks inside Pakistan.
Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry said Pakistan will firmly respond to any unprovoked action along the border. He stressed that national security and territorial integrity remain top priorities.
“No one will be allowed to take away Pakistan’s peace,” he said. He also stated that attacks on markets and mosques cannot be tolerated and that Pakistan will go to any extent for the safety of its people.
Talal added that Afghanistan must act as a peaceful neighbor to ensure long-term stability in the region.
