ISLAMABAD (Web Desk): Pension details of Justices (r) Mansoor Ali Shah and Athar Minallah have surfaced, revealing payouts of over Rs310,000,000 after their resignation.

Two former judges of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, Justice Mansoor Ali Shah and Justice Athar Minallah, have received more than Rs310,000,000 in pension-related payments after retirement, according to sources.

Sources said Justice Mansoor Ali Shah received over Rs161,000,000 as commuted pension, while Justice Athar Minallah was paid more than Rs154,000,000. Both judges resigned after the 27th Constitutional Amendment and received these amounts accordingly.

Justice Mansoor Ali Shah served for 16 years, while Justice Athar Minallah completed more than 11 years in service. After retirement, they are receiving monthly pensions of over Rs1100,000 and Rs1200,000 respectively. Both former judges continue to enjoy medical, housing, and other official facilities, including benefits for their spouses.

According to sources, the Ministry of Law increased house rent allowance to Rs350,000 and the superior judicial allowance to over Rs1100,000. Justice Athar Minallah’s total monthly pension stands at Rs1220,381.

This amount includes driver pension of Rs25,891, special additional pension of Rs84,885, medical allowance of Rs45,799, and Rs11,450 under other heads.

Similarly, Justice Mansoor Ali Shah’s total monthly pension is Rs1,135,496. This includes driver pension of Rs91,258, medical allowance of Rs45,799, and Rs11,450 in other allowances.

Under the Supreme Court Judges order 1997, both former judges are also entitled to post-retirement benefits. These include medical care, official residence, full staff, limits on utility bills, official vehicle and fuel, security and immunity, flag protocol, and special facilities for their spouses.

Justice Mansoor Ali Shah served a total of 16 years, one month, and 26 days, while Justice Athar Minallah served for 11 years, four months, and 24 days.

It is recalled that in November 2025, both judges resigned from the Supreme Court in protest against the 27th Constitutional Amendment.

The figures show how generous judicial pensions are. The amounts have triggered public discussion. Many question fairness in the current economy.
