The Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) government has taken the major and welcome decision for people seeking government jobs. The upper age limit for applying to government posts has been increased, a move expected to benefit a large number of candidates.
Many applicants were earlier declared ineligible only because they crossed the age limit by one year. With the new decision, these candidates can now compete again for government employment.
According to the government’s decision, the maximum age limit for government jobs in Azad Jammu and Kashmir has now been fixed at 41 years. Previously, the upper age limit was 40 years.
After assuming office, Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir Faisal Mumtaz Rathore had announced a special one-year relaxation in the age limit for government jobs. This announcement has now been formally implemented.
A regular notification has also been issued in line with the prime minister’s decision, making the new age limit effective immediately.

Public circles have welcomed the move, saying that in the current economic situation, government jobs are a strong support for both young and experienced individuals. The age relaxation allows long-waiting candidates to return to the competition.

The decision is also expected to help government institutions by bringing in skilled and experienced people. Candidates have urged the government to continue such public-friendly steps to restore confidence among the youth.
This step shows the government is listening to public concerns. It removes a small but painful barrier for many candidates. The decision may increase trust in public policies. More experienced people can now serve in government departments.
