The Constitutional Bench, led by Justice Amin-ud-Din Khan, conducted the hearing of the case against stopping PIA’s privatisation.
The Additional Attorney General informed the court that it had previously allowed the national carrier to recruit the new professionals.
He further told the bench that on account of starting the process of privatisation, the new recruitment process was not initiated.
Previously, the court stopped the privatisation of PIA, but today’s orders paves the way for continuation of national flag carrier.
Justice Khan remarked that the government might receive better bid for the privatisation of PIA after lifting of ban on PIA’s flight operations. Justice Khan emphasised that the process must be carried out transparently.
Justice Jamal Mandokhail remarked that the government should comply with the court’s orders by keeping the court involved in the process.
The court disposed of the case by withdrawing the previous orders regarding ban on privatisation of Pakistan International Airline.
