LAHORE: (Suno News) The minimal drop of 4.74 per litre in petrol price, despite the recommendation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to reduce it by Rs15 per litre, has been challenged in the Lahore High Court (LHC).
A miscellaneous petition was filed in the LHC by the Judicial Activism Panel which stated that the prices of petroleum products had fallen massively at the global level.
The petition also stated that the prime minister had recommended a drop of Rs15 per litre in petrol price.
It requested the court to order the finance ministry to issue a notification to reduce the price of petrol as per the recommendation of the prime minister.
It is to be noted here that the prime minister directed the Ministry of Finance to significantly reduce the price of petrol by Rs15.40 per litre and that of diesel by Rs7.90 per litre.
However, the finance ministry issued a notification announcing a minimal drop of Rs4.74 per litre in petrol price.
